Autolooting only while pickpocketing

Stumbled upon this macro a week or so ago. This is very nice if you run a lot of groups
and find yourself not wanting to open chests with auto loot on but do like to auto loot
your pick pocket window.

/script SetAutoLootDefault(1)
/cast Pick Pocket
/in 1 /script SetAutoLootDefault(0)

The /in 1 section of the macro adds a pause telling it to wait 1 second before turning
auto loot off. With out this you turn auto loot off before you can finish looting the
pick pocket loot window.

This is another find off the wowwiki.com useful macros page.

Easy Unlock

This is one of those add ons that you can do with out but I don't reccomend it. Currently when I am unlocking boxes for myself I have to right click the skill and then click the box I am unlocking. It is not the most efficient method and takes up a convenient spot on one of my side hot bars. A quick search of any add on site will reveal more then one solution for opening lock boxes. Easy Unlock is my current favorite as it works on your trade window as well as in your inventory simply by right clicking on the boxes you want to unlock. If you do not already have your lockpicking maxed for your current level you should be ashamed. You are also loosing money. I know what you are thinking... you are only losing money when someone tips you. However if you have a quick macro that says: /2 Opening lock boxes on top of Org Bank! Hit that every time you swing through the city and the tips really start to add up. Not only have I made over 1000g off a single junk box I pick pocketed off a level 67 mob. I have also been tipped upwards of 20g for picking around 15 lock boxes. It is very common to receive tips ranging from 50s to 2g per box. Generosity of the client usually depends on what they get in their box but you never know. If you are opening lock boxes as often as possible then you should definitely be using this mod.

Nitrana / Ming

About a week ago I was writing a rant on world of ming. I decided not to publish that initially. Why send him more traffic. However I guess I am not the only one Ming has touched off recently. Nitrana of WSG fame has written a blog / rant on World of Ming. http://www.gameriot.com/blogs/CantBeStopped/Aint-no-thing-but-a-Chkn-Ming/ The blog is in response to a MySpace Music song made by the character Shaunconnery. Absolutely hilarious. Even if your Ming's fav fan boy you should listen to this song just for a good laugh. After all the hate he's been getting lately I don't think I could write it up any better. Please humbly accept these links to the lollerink! http://www.myspace.com/shaunconnery

The Art of Tunnel Vision

General awareness is the name of the game, and in arena it is a matter of win or lose. You're geared to the teeth, you can down a priest like a fatty downs a 64 piece KFC bucket...so why are you still stuck in the 1500s with no release? Awareness. While you were dropping that clothie your teammates were getting slaughtered, mercilessly. We're talking Nagrand Chainsaw Massacre. So now it's basically 1v4 and you're looking straight down the smoking barrel of 4 bloodlusted double-barrelled shotguns. Rather than dish out more literary works of art, let's get right to the point. It is better to be more focused on what your partner's buddies are up to, than what your target himself is up to. Knowing what's going on around you in an arena match more or less will decide the game. You can see that paladin gearing up a 4 second downie holy light (lol curse of tongues), but what do you do about it? Do you stop casting that frostbolt that *might* kill your target, except the paladin is likely to get a crit 10k heal off beforehand, or do you stop and counterspell him? Well if you're stuck in the 1500's the answer is very obvious. 1. Pay attention, pay attention, pay attention. It's particularly common for melee to suffer from serious tunnel vision, because of their need to be in close quarters to do damage, but still, survey your surroundings. Keep a mental note of what your partner can do, and how you can counter it. 2. Think twice about what your opponent's partner(s) are capable of. If there is a warlock that you are not on, you should be watching him very carefully for a potential fear, or watching that mage for a polymorph. Watching that healer for a heal that could decide the game. 3. Think three times about what you have at your disposal to prevent predictable outcomes. You know that paladin isn't here to holy shock you to death (well maybe if you're already at 1k hp and your healer is blinded), so you just might want to focus the majority of your attention on stopping his heals constantly, but keeping DPS on your main target. Preemptively cloaking a poly or a fear might buy you just enough time to finish your target. 4. Preemptiveness is key. Be one step ahead of your opponent(s). You know after 3 years of PVP'ing in this game (most players) you should be familiar with every other class's abilities and how to counter them. It's almost autonomous to some people. It sparks through their mind the second they see certain triggers. "Mage has glowy white hands! VANISH!" "Hunter just went red, EVASION!", the same goes for watching your enemy's teammates. Instead of just watching your target remember: "Main target's low, and the healer already wasted trinket, BLIND!". 5. Defend your teammates. Sure you might think you're some kind of Indiana Jones and might be able to 1v3 a fully coordinated team. I might just think you're full of complete bull-poo. Maybe. You often can predict who will be the main target 90% of your games in arena. Be ready to peel opponents off them because even losing one person usually means you lose. There are very rare circumstances where this is an exception, but in most cases once one goes down, the game is over.

Sap and the CheapShot

Lately I have been looking for Ideas for contests and the prizes I should award the winners of those contests. I have decided I definitely want the outcome to benefit the site overall. One of the members of the Cloak-and-Dagger, Rokzilla, posted a video that instructs clearly how to perform Sap, Cheap Shot your opponent while sapped with out breaking the sap and then restealthing. Here is the video: This raises a couple of questions. First what is the point of this move? Second would anyone let you finish the sequence before trinketing? Third what could you do with this? Well the obvious purpose of Cheap shotting a target while sapped and restealthing is to stack combo points. If you are using premed and Initiative then you are usually starting with 5 to begin with. But if you don't have premed this is a great poor man's premed. The second question is would any class let you do this... the quick answer is maybe. Most classes will not trinket your sap because you are doing no damage and they would rather save it for say a kidney shot. Now since you are not damaging them it is in their best interest to save that trinket for later. A more experienced player may realize what you are doing and try and stop you. But it is likely in a 1v1 situation that this can be executed cleanly. The third point is what will you do with the combo pts. Against a high armor target you can open with Garrote / Rupture / Vanish and allow your dots to tick your targets health away before reapplying sap and opening with cheapshot / kidneyshot sequence. Getting a solid 5 pt Expose Armor off on your target could also be a beneficial way to start the fight. Would it be possible to Sap / Cheapshot / Expose Armor / Restealth /Resap / Cheapshot / Kidneyshot. Only a 3 pts Expose Armor but on a cloth target it might be well worth it. Just some things to consider. This move is relegated to duels and 1v1 situations but executed properly can definitely stack the deck and combo points in your favor.

Mashable Stealth and Premeditation for the ADD

This week I wanted to bring you two macros that I have been considering adding to my arsenal. Simple macros but very effective. My goal is usually to keep macros as simple as possible or as my dad always said... remember K.I.S.S. -- Keep. It. Simple. Stupid. The more complex macros may be enticing at first. A single button you can press to defeat your enemies but upon closer inspection they have to many points of failure. The fewer points of failure the better. The first macro is a simple macro to put you into stealth. This macro however is mashable. You can spam it in a panic til your hearts content. It will only stealth you and once stealth will not take you back out of stealth. Use the stance filter here to check to make sure your not already in stealth.
/cast [stance:0] Stealth
The other macro I am looking at adding to my hotbar works in stealth. Use it to cast premeditation before your cheapshot. This is important for me as my ADD self never remembers to hit premed before I attack a target.
/cast Premeditation /cast Cheap shot
This should make a much more effective use of your premeditation skill if you often forget to fire it before jumping an enemy in a battleground or arena.

TipTacTalents!

This is one of those addons that is so tiny you do not even realize it is installed. Uninstall it and you will miss its functionality greatly. TipTacTalents actually mimics functionality found in Proximo that reports on the targets talent build. This UI mod puts it in the tooltips though not just in an Arena Frame. Let's face it, your strategy on defeating certain classes changes greatly based on their talent spec. It also lets you know what someone is specced in your group with out asking them. This is a mod I would add under the category of just making your life easier. You could live without it but after you live with it that might be easier said then done.

Live 2008 World Tournament Server

Blizzard has announced the opening of the live Tournament Realm, which pits players behind pre-made toons in 3v3 bracket arena matches. For $20 you register your account through the Registration page and are granted access to the Tournament Realm via a specialized client (much like the Public Test Realm client). On this isolated server you can create an instant level 70, of any race, class, or gender... and here's the gem. Access to every enchant, gem, and piece of gear in the game to use at your disposal. Money is infinite, so you can respec all you need to, and buy all the gear you need right off the bat. Gear Available Gear scaling is limited to a maximum of season 2 level gear (or tier 5, your choice) and you can mix and match however you wish without having to snore your way through old PVE content. Basically, this will be a min/max hardcore arena player's dream. Tournament Structure The tournament is sanctioned over a six week period, in which the first two weeks are dedicated just to a warm-up/practice period. Matches don't matter at this point, but ratings will still work as normal to retain arena simulation. There will be multiple qualifier rounds over time, and the top teams (Blizzard has not designated the threshold that determines a "top" team) will be qualified to advance to the regional finals. Supposedly the top teams from the regionals will then advance on to the world finals, and compete with other top teams all over the world. Prizes World finals prizes will include a grand prize of $75,000 presented to the winning team, $30,000 to 2nd place, and $15,000 to 3rd. Regional prizes will also amount to $15,000, $6,000, and $3,000 respectively. 5th through 8th will still take home a modest $600. Live Stats According to Blizzard, all toons created on the tournament realm will have active Armory profiles and stats monitored as the tournament persists. A specialized forum will be available also, but restricted only to registered members for use. Other Info Mobs and dungeons are disabled on the tournament realm, and most NPCs will be reserved for general loot access and money generation. Basically it's all arena, (or duels), all the time. For more information and detailed answers to some regular questions check out the page set aside for registration and information on the official Blizzard World Tournament FAQ page Good luck, and have fun!
