Check out Shadow Gaming!

Karzerus, a member of the RogueSpot forums posted a link to an announcement post over on the World of Warcraft Official Forums. It seems two personalities from the WoW forums (Happyminti and Dahis) have decided to team up with the help of others to create shadow-gaming.com. The site will allow people to track the progress of their arena team and be a resource for pvp discussion and strategy for all classes. They already have a couple of articles up with some good tips. Definitely worth checking out and signing up on the forums.

Oi Rogue! L2sap.... nub

I was reading in the forums the other day about somebody who thought that rogues has a distinct lack of crowd control and this got me thinking. The main thing I hear now when I am in instances with other groups is, "sap", "sap the healer" so on and so on.

On the other side, in the olden days (ok, pre TBC so not that old) rogues were all DPS. All you would see in chat would be "LF DPS and the rogue would get the job, unless CC was needed. Personally I have always loved the control that a rogue has, even more so than DPS and in a PVE situation we still have that.

Look at what we have for CC
  • Gouge
  • Blind
  • Kidney shot
  • Cheap shot and
  • Sap
and that is just the skills we have that can disable an opponent.

I think that anyone who says we have a lack of CC needs to rethink, that includes rogues and all the other classes who are putting together a group. In fact, I think that 'new age' rogues who are just starting to 'rogue' will be of the CC mindset more so than the DPS mindset.

What do you guys think..... DPS or CC?

When is it "okay" to gank?

As a rogue, we all know that we have the upper-hand when it comes to ganking. We can follow an enemy player for several minutes, wait till he gets in combat, and jump him. But when is it okay by your standards to gank someone? I know I HATE when I am playing a non-rogue alt, minding my own business grinding, and I get ganked. So I can only imagine how someone else feels when I gank them.

My philosophy is that if it is someone you KNOW you can probably kill it one ambush, and it is a worthwhile kill, go for it. Like I wouldn’t 1shot someone 10 levels lower than me for the hell of it… I have some dignity. Or if I am about to leave the area or zone. Say I just finished my quests and I’m ready to hearth and log, might as well take some opposing faction members with me, right? Now I know some people are, but I am not the kinda guy who will follow someone for hours upon end just killing him over and over and over. No offense to them, but that just gets old to me.

Now my favorite part is stalking your prey for revenge. Revenge is such a motivator for me. Say I just cleared out a whole set of mobs to get a chest, and a horde comes waltzing in as I run towards the chest and loots it… That’s when it is on! I will corpse camp this guy for a while, JUST to piss him off. I know it doesn’t do me any good, but you just get this feeling of satisfaction when you see his death animation around 6 times in a few minutes. But I don’t like to just corpse camp for no reason.

So tell me rogues, what are some of your standards for letting a player be, or WTFPWNING him before he knows what hit him?
