As a rogue, we all know that we have the upper-hand when it comes to ganking. We can follow an enemy player for several minutes, wait till he gets in combat, and jump him. But when is it okay by your standards to gank someone? I know I HATE when I am playing a non-rogue alt, minding my own business grinding, and I get ganked. So I can only imagine how someone else feels when I gank them.
My philosophy is that if it is someone you KNOW you can probably kill it one ambush, and it is a worthwhile kill, go for it. Like I wouldn’t 1shot someone 10 levels lower than me for the hell of it… I have some dignity. Or if I am about to leave the area or zone. Say I just finished my quests and I’m ready to hearth and log, might as well take some opposing faction members with me, right? Now I know some people are, but I am not the kinda guy who will follow someone for hours upon end just killing him over and over and over. No offense to them, but that just gets old to me.
Now my favorite part is stalking your prey for revenge. Revenge is such a motivator for me. Say I just cleared out a whole set of mobs to get a chest, and a horde comes waltzing in as I run towards the chest and loots it… That’s when it is on! I will corpse camp this guy for a while, JUST to piss him off. I know it doesn’t do me any good, but you just get this feeling of satisfaction when you see his death animation around 6 times in a few minutes. But I don’t like to just corpse camp for no reason.
So tell me rogues, what are some of your standards for letting a player be, or WTFPWNING him before he knows what hit him?
