I stumbled across this jewel in the WoW Rogue Forums. Normally I am very supportive of Rogues in general. But not when they cry for buffs or nerfs while playing at 50% of their playing potential.
To Sum up the post hes sad that he got killed by a hunter 14 levels below him. Regaurdless of the fact... and he realizes this... that he forgot to do some key things that should have been no brainers.
1) I got the jump, but even then I was out of stealth (engaged in combat).
2) No poisons on my weapon, I had failed to apply poisons, not needing them beforehand.
3) I had the dumb idea of trying to kill a hunter in the first place, regardless of level.
I fight hunters everyday, I fight mages everyday and im happy to say that I come out on top more often then not. Rogues as a class have no room to gripe or scream for another class's nerfs. After almost every other class has been buffed (i think they just nerfed pallies) I can still defeat almost every matchup.
Talents play a huge part in how hard a class is to defeat. Hunters, Mages and Warriors specfically can make talent choices that make them extremely difficult.
Granted I have rediculous burst dps with 120 energy seal fate dagger build and a Perditions. But if I am careless all the gear in the world will not make up for lack of preparation.
Thats right preparation is not just a 21 point talent in our sub tree... it is the difference between winning and losing matchups. Im talking about anything. Duels / BG PvP / World PvP etc...
Heres a good excersize for this Rogue and others that share his mentality.
1) Observe your target
- Whats his pattern, whats he doing.
- Does he have friends close by.
2) Prepare for your fight
- Poison Up!
- Check key trinkets. (Barov Peasant Caller used after a mages Frost nova really pisses em off!)
3) Approach Target
- Wait for them to use a key cooldown.
- Fight them at a choke point in the landscape or where you can use the environment to your advantage. (Ive actually beaten hunters kiting me by forcing them to come around a corner to LoS me and blinding them)
4) Kill Target
- Keep your visibility up. If you stun spin your view and check for approaching enemies ... etc.
- Get away. Dont stick around making it easy for his friends to find you. They want retribution... dont allow it.
5) If you Lose
- Sit back and check your cooldowns what could you have done differently. If theres something you could have done better. Practice Practice. Dont go straight to the forums.
