See you next Year!

As the official last post of the year. I would like to take this time to say Happy New Year. Its time to tuck the daggers, keyboards and n52's away. Pick up a bottle of Champagne (for yourself) and party in to 2006.

Remember to Drink responsibly.

Engineering Discussion

Since I moved to my 30/8/13 Build I have been doing alot of dueling one thing I have noticed though is that If I piss someone off in a duel whos an engineer im likely to die the next round.
All manners of Deathrays, Net guns, and goggles are used against me and its getting rediculous. So my new motto? If you can't beat them... Join them. I vaguely remember hearing this a couple of times while watching Looney Tunes on Saturday morning television. (Very educational programming.)

So what I am interested in knowing is what Trinkets you use the most in PVP?
What situations do you use them in?
How dependable are they in working?

Join the discussion over at the RogueSpot Forums.

Your Rogue's New Years Resolutions?

We all make Resolutions for ourselves on New Years... Work out more, Do better in school, play less WoW... that doesn't mean we meet those goals. However I'm not really interested in your NYR's I want to know what your Rogue's New Years Resolutions are? Before you reply though we need to take this a bit deeper. Any rogue can give me a half assed answer that they want more Epics and higher PvP rank. Ok... How?

Break it into smaller steps. Identify key parts of your equipment that you need ot upgrade. I know that I want 5/8 NS. Which parts of the NightSlayer. Preferably I want the Bracer, Belt, Gloves, Boots and Pants. That way I can one day fill the BF Chest, Head, Shoulders into the remaining three spots. I also have my eye on the ZG trinkets. The Heart of Hakkar seems to be the easiest goal out of them with the other one requring a voodoo doll plus a bunch of other drops. I like to set my goals small. Each quest peice for the 60 Energy trinket being a goal. Each piece of armor is a goal and so is the Heart. I can continue in this fashion setting rep goals for Cenarion Circle, Thorium Brotherhood. Whatever you plan to do break it down. Nothing in this game is impossible.

I used to have friends tell me all the time when I played EQLive that x or y is too hard or requires to much time or is out of reach. Didnt really stop me. I accomplished every goal I laid down for myself in that game and will do the same here. Will I be the first? Nope... I think being first is slightly over rated. Its a great acheivement no doubt. But what happens when they nerf the weapon or trinkets you spent a month working towards.

So what are you working towards Weapons, Armor, Ranks, Levels, Faction and how are you breaking it down to acheive your goal? Throw your Resolutions up here.

Give Seal Fate a Chance!

Well I took the dive last nite and respecced to a 30/8/13 build. Then immediatly went out to duel. Man was I frustrated. After depending on a 21/8/22 for so long its hard to quit prep cold turkey... and I think thats pretty accurate preparation is a drug for rogues.

So tonite it continues. Im not sure where I will be but I definitly will try some world PvP. Maybe ill get back to ganking in STV for a bit to boost my confidence with this build.

I will definitly keep it for an MC run or two to see how my DPS increases. I have been ranking about 10th -15th on damage meters in MC so it will be interesting to see how much of a DPS boost this build gives me over my standard cookie cutter prep build.

Right away I noticed:
> Slower Speed (missing Camo 5 in Favor of MoD 5)
> Missing Second Vanish for handling mages. (I lost to two mages, not used to that)

Feel free to suggest a different play style or any tips you can think of to help me with the transition. If I can get the nack of it I will be transitioning to a 31/8/12 for a 120 Energy build. Seeing as I am at 0/8 Nightslayer that wont be happening anytime soon though.

Top of the Charts

Well I dont know of any charts... but I was looking at the search strings people used to stumble upon RogueSpot.com and was pleasantly surprised to see that RogueSpot.com ranks at the #1 spot or on the first page across several search engines and a bunch of different keywords.

roguespot.com
mings dueling guide
rogue talent tree
roguespot
osiris rogue strategy
roguecraft talents
warcraft talent rogue
haunted wow rogue
making poisons at home
Rogue Guide by Osiris

the above were some of the search strings used to find Roguespot.com so I would like to thank everyone that links back to RogueSpot for helping make us easier to find. I would also like to hope that one of the above searchers never found what he was looking for. :-/

Were Back!

Well I am finally back from my vacation in the mountains of California (near Avery, Angels Camp, Bear Valley) and the streets of San Francisco stayed at the WestInn in Union Square. California is amazing... and being there for 9 days only brought 1 question to my mind. Why am I on the East Coast? Between Camping in Avery, Snowboarding in Bear Valley, Touring Alcatraz Island, and dining at Max's in San Francisco the trip was a blast and thats probably only a fraction of the stuff we fit in.

Well it's Monday and I am back in Jacksonville, the cell phone is up and the email is connected. The Nominations are in and I have a pile of email to get to from the past 9 days so please be patient if you sent me an email. My entire body is still aching from snowboarding for the first time but I will be back in game tonite raiding and working on updates for RogueSpot. I should have some new additions to the site this week and be back in the groove of things here by the weekend.

Maitenance & Patch 1.8.4

Mmmm Maitenance Tuesdays! Gotta love them. This Tuesday we have a new mini patch. There was alot of speculation that today would be 1.9 but it looks like we have another week or so to go. Instead we are getting 1.8.4 this mini patch brings a couple of fixes and some preparations for patch 1.9 other than that there doesnt seem to be anything special about it.

For those of you that are disappointed 1.9 is not here look at this as a blessing. You have an extra week to collect Night Dragons Breath, Whipper Root Tubers and all that good Fel Food before it gets nerfed into non existance. I currently have 350 in the bank ... and I feel like I dont have enough.

Talent Point Trade Off

The Rogue Talent Trees are some of the hardest to work with. Simply because every Rogue wants every talent. Ok... almost every talent. All three talent trees are very strong and provide useful abilities. You wouldnt be able to throw any one of the trees out with out 50% of the Rogue class complaining about it. Thats gotta say something.

In the Assasination line your hard hitting talents are Cold Blood, Seal Fate and Lethality. Combat contributes Improved Backstab, Riposte, Blade Fury, and Adrenaline Rush which is the best 31 pt talent in my opinion. The Subtelty line provides MoD, Camo, Improved Sap, Hemo and Preparation.

As it stands now I am a 21/8/22 I have been with this cookie cutter build for sometime. Rogues constantly try to tell me other builds do more damage etc etc... when the damage charts come out I never lead them. I have tried several builds. Hell I have leveled an Alliance Rogue to 53 and a Horde Rogue to 60. That provides me with plenty of time to check out other builds. I have tried Combat builds, Seal Fate builds, Seal Fate / Prep builds, Combat Daggers and almost everything else except hemo which i dont have much experience with but still have lots of respect for as a viable build.

Each Talent point has a value for me. Not based on anyone elses external system but my play style and my own needs. Take for example Preparation while this is a great talent most rogues say they can do with out. Some even validate this by saying relying on prep makes you inferior in pvp when its not up. While playing around with talent calculators and making different builds I am always trying to trade up prep for something else in some other tree. I have to admit that this is the hardest talent for me to trade up. The countless times its saved my ass in pvp and pve come to mind everytime i consider respeccing.

Heres another example. Seal Fate is one of my favorite talents from the Assassination line. I would really like to go 30/8/13 or 31/8/12. At what point do I choose to give up prep and imp sap. Unfortunatly since im a dagger rogue I have to keep my Improved Backstab.

At what point did you give up your favorite talent for a talent in another tree? I do not play alts... except for extra bank space so I like having the swiss army knife of talent builds. It gives me great vesatility in PVE, PVP, soloing instance bosses and just about anything else. You may call it the cookie cutter build if you like but what I want to know is what are your Talent Point Trade Offs? What were the hardest decisions to make when respeccing?

Lots of Little Updates!

I have been busy making lots of little updates as well as working on some stuff behind the scenes here at RogueSpot.com.

I am currently working on adding forums to RogueSpot.com but before I do I would like to get some opinions from the readers. Pro Forums? Against Forums? Throw some comments up and let me know what your thinking. There would be two 1 Public Access and 1 private that would require you to be verified that you have a rogue of at least level 40 before gaining access.

I have a system for handling the verifications in mind but would like to hear from the rogues in the community what you think RogueSpot.com should concentrate on.

Forums would give you a specific place to cultivate a more mature and moderated community and most likely get faster answers to questions. Make sure you put your 2 cents in.
