Addon Round Up (Mobmap)

Yesterday I broke down. Since I have returned to WoW since playing... well still playing EVE Online I decided a couple of things. 1) No more hardcore raiding. I have a job. 2) Minimalistic addon approach.

Everything was going great until yesterday when I broke rule 2 like a Ninja surrounded by perfectly good necks. I was perusing the curse addon site and lo and behold something catches my eye. Mobmap. Sounds innocent enough ok... checked it out... requires a download from Curse plus going to a secondary website and downloading a database. *Warning Bells* NEVER DOWNLOAD ADDONS FROM UNKNOWN SITES. However feeling confident that Firefox + Noscript would protect me in the event of a key logger attempt, I checked it out.

So far so good and I have to say I am impressed. Mobmap adds a button to your map that gives it thottbot like prowess. Simply click the mobmap button, enter the name of the npc your looking for and it shows up on the map thottbot style. Looking for the mob you need to kill, or who to turn the quest into... etc etc. It comes complete with databases for quests, mobs, items, recipes, harvestable nodes, etc.

I recommend reading the instructions and being careful. I have not done anything to confirm that parts of this mob are safe. I did not use the auto updater either. So far everything is legit and this is quite possibly the biggest time saving mod I have. Its especially useful when playing on the road where I do not have the luxary of dual monitors as I dont have to leave WoW to thottbot something. Not to mention that anything I do lookup in game is displayed on my map and mini map.

Definitely give this addon a look and comment on your experience with it.

I have had this for a while now and my gosh does it help.

I've found it too lag the game when opening the map when still showing the co-ords of searched mob, so I often just search for a mob remember the location shown on the map and then uncheck the checkbox for showing or not showing position.

A cool addon but the database needs to grow. I've searched for quite a few things so far that aren't in there. Let's get using it.

Why not search for stuff yourself? That's part of the game... or do you just take the easy way out in life all the time? Are you playing the game or is it a bother?

I'll never understand comments like this.

Do u look at a roadmap when you travel?

Do u ask for directions when lost?

Have u ever asked a guildee for help with something they knew?

Bag it... I think it works great.

Well, if you spend 1 hour looking for something because the quest description sucks it kind of RUINS the fun of the game if you ask me, and does in fact become a bother.

But whatever rocks your boat, mate. No one forces you to use this or even type a comment here by the way.

I started using it two weeks ago and is invaluable for rogue questing, now I can stealth to objectives that are displayed on minimap. This is the most useful mod I've found.

replying to the guy above that has a problem with short cuts...some of us have jobs and wifes ..and that my freind sucks up ALOT of time. So when im playing wow the only thing that keeps me from being lost in the dust is thottbot/a good mod or add-on. Nothing overload like some hacking deal...fyi codes and walkthroughs have been in the game industry for over 20 years :)
