Roving Rogues...
Well we need an update here. Lots been happening and sadly I haven't able to cover it like I would like to. We have patch 2.0.1 out and The Burning Crusade right around the corner. Looking over the changes in the patch one in particular caught my eye and that was the moving of Improved Backstab to the Assassination tree. Playing briefly with a talent calcular I realized that the Ass/Sub tree will produce some incredibly powerful builds this time around. I haven't got a chance to play with the changes in game but it feels kinda like Rogues have once again become a force to fear. What are your thoughts on the changes? Anything I am missing? Has anyone combined Seal Fate and Setup?
I am currently in the middle of moving to a new place in Orlando. Call it an upgrade if you will. Between that work and a couple of other MMO's I have been checking out my time in WoW has been limited. I will however be keeping my blades sharp and ready to jump in to the deep end with TBC expansion.

You sure? I just respecced to 41/5/5 Mutilate. Imp. Backstab was still in the Combat tree like before under Imp. Gouge!
Imp. Backstab and Imp. SnD have swapped spots on the BC testserver. In patch 2.0 they have not yet switched places.
He might have had another tree like the one on Thottbot that promised Shadowstep. As far as builds go, I have to say I love mutilate. Completly good replacement for backstab, and although I dont have the same crit chance, it still always gives me 2 combo points (3 of course if you crit) and i have 2 chances to get a decent attack/crit either way. And you can't go wrong with quick recovery, which is going to be crazy with the bandages in the expansion. With mutilate, you dont have to worry about obtaining Imp. Backstab, so three more points can be placed somewhere else, say Initiative. I have too many good stories lately of destroying people, including a few AQ40/Naxx geared characters while I'm in my not even T1 set/equiv. But yeah, love assassination, best tree IMO.
Those changes you read - swapping improved backstab to the assassination tree - are currently in the Burning Crusade Beta, not on the live realms. They implemented an older version of the talent trees with 2.0.1 that they patched into live.
Talents on live are accurately represented by http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/bc-rogue/talents.html
as of December 16, and talents on beta are accurately represented by
http://www.wowhead.com/?talent-bc=f
and navigating to the rogue BC talents.
This has tangible benefits, however. In beta, Shadowstep has replaced Cloak of Shadows at 41 subtlety, and Cloak of Shadows has become trainable at level 66. In live, Cloak of Shadows is still a talent, allows us to spec for and play it at level 60.
